As a continuation of the workshop that had been given, hundreds (even thousands) of photographs by 12 selected photographers were then curated together with the mentors of the KELANA PN-PRIMA (Pencerah Nusantara - Puskesmas Responsif Inklusif Masyarakat Aktif Bermakna) program. This activity is managed by the Arkademy Project in collaboration with CISDI (Centre for Indonesia's Strategic Development Initiatives).

The photo curation process that is carried out provides its own insight for me. It is when there is a limited number of final photos to be used, we can’t only look at the aesthetics of each photo but also how to make sure that the viewer can see the story in the series of photos even without looking at the narrative of the photos. Photo curation is carried out in several stages, starting with each photographer curating their own photos and providing approximately 40 photos, then discussing with the assigned mentor (Kurniadi Widodo) about the story you want to tell and how the photos provided support the story, continuing with providing additional photos if obtained and discussed with all the mentors (Yoppy Pieter, Kurniadi Widodo, Rara Sekar Larasati and Ben K.C. Laksana) and photographer friends to choosing the final photo and concept that will be used to display the selected photos later.

A photo exhibition titled Love is Silent: Invisible Health Work was successfully held at the Exhibition Room Floor 4 of the National Library of Indonesia on 05-16 November 2022. Apart from the exhibition, there was also an Artist Talk where I and two other photographer friends shared stories about this photo assignment process. The exhibition was visited by more than 1,000 visitors. A follow-up exhibition will be held at Mbloc Space in May 2023.

INAYAH
(Narasi oleh Jesica Indah, dengan review oleh Rara Sekar Larasati & Ben K.C. Laksana)

INAYAH
(Narrated by Jesica Indah, with review by Rara Sekar Larasati & Ben K.C. Laksana)

Mrs. Rosmawati, 44 years old, is a PRIMA cadre, community unit secretary, neighbourhood integrated healthcare centre cadre and member of the neighbourhood religious assembly in the Bahagia Village, Bekasi Regency. Living with her husband and one child who just graduated from high school, she is an active and warm figure. Even though she grew up in simplicity, she has always loved sharing in any way since she was young. Although she was one of the initiators of neighbourhood integrated healthcare centre activities in her neighbourhood, she had taken a break for five years to take care of her baby, Inayah, who has now passed away. This is not the first time that Ibu Ros has lost her child. Her other two children have also died.

For a mother, losing a child is not an easy thing to deal with. Choosing not to drown in her grief, in the last two years Mrs. Ros has finally returned to being active as a PRIMA Cadre which focuses a lot on the elderly community member. Connecting information, collecting data and accompanying the elderly to the health centre has become a routine. Because most of the elderly around her lack digital literacy, the role of cadres is necessary so that the elderly can still obtain information and access health facilities.

What moves a person to become a cadre is often very personal, as was experienced by Mrs. Ros when Inayah left. If in the past she cared for her children, now she continues that love by becoming a companion for the elderly in the Bahagia Village.

This was my 4th or 5th photography workshop with Arbain Rambey as speaker. He is the most humble photographer I know so far. Never hesitate to share his knowledge as he has been in the photography field for years. He never took photography school, all his knowledge and success achieved from self learning.
